Ordinary language is all right.
One could divide humanity into two classes:
those who master a metaphor, and those who hold by a formula.
Those with a bent for both are too few, they do not comprise a class.

Someday I'd like to have some idea of how Nietzsche got anything at all out of reading Emerson in translation.
'The academic study of the present fantasizes an authority over our lives that experience and history demonstrate we've never had, and from that fantasy by implication, fantasizes also an authority of the elect over the lives of others.'
'There is a never ending haggling over whether we will renounce the intimate relationship that we have with ourselves, something for which THEY have given us so much flak.'
...
'The form-of-life is not beyond bare life, it is its intimate polarization.'
I thought it was a song about hermeneutics, turned out it was a song about love.
